Step 1: Measure and Prepare the Opening
Measure the opening where you want to install the glass block window. Make sure the opening is square and level. Clean the opening and remove any debris.
Step 2: Install the Window Frame
Place the window frame into the opening and secure it with screws or nails. Use a level to ensure the frame is plumb and square.
Step 3: Apply Mortar and Spacers
Apply a layer of glass block mortar along the bottom of the window frame. Place spacers on top of the mortar to create an even surface for the glass blocks.
Step 4: Install the Glass Blocks
Place the first glass block on top of the spacers and press it firmly into the mortar. Apply mortar to the sides and bottom of each block as you stack them. Use a level to ensure the blocks are straight and level.
Step 5: Fill Gaps with Mortar
Once all the glass blocks are in place, fill any gaps between the blocks with mortar. Smooth the mortar with a putty knife and remove any excess.
Step 6: Caulk and Finish
Apply caulk around the edges of the glass blocks to seal them. Smooth the caulk with a caulk smoothing tool or your finger. Let the caulk dry completely before cleaning the window.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed a glass block window.
